(1) Full Comprehensive Naturopathy session (Part 1 and Part 2):

​

A full comprehensive Naturopathy Session involves an initial appointment (Part 1) of up to 1 hour 30 mins followed by a first return appointment (Part 2) of up to 1 hour 15 mins. This gives us a longer time to explore the presenting health concerns, compared to most other naturopathy appointments offered elsewhere.

Part 1: Initial Comprehensive Naturopathy appointment and health assessment (up to 1 hour 30 mins)

This initial Naturopathy appointment involves a  comprehensive health assessment, which depending on the nature of your presenting complaint, typically includes exploring your medical history, personal health history, history of family illness as well as a preliminary dietary assessment, lifestyle habits assessment and if applicable a basic physical examination. The focus in this comprehensive naturopathy approach is generally on chronic condition(s), where chronic is seen as the ailment(s) being present for a period of time (such as 1-2 months or longer) and/or a condition that requires on-going support and/or impacts life quality or limits daily activities.

These naturopathic consults are thorough and allow opportunities to explore many facets of health.  We frequently explore immune function, digestive function, sleep, stress, mood and much more, looking at how these all can interact and impact your health. If needed, a brief physical examination, including blood pressure and/or urine analysis may be included in the assessment.

After this initial consultation, your case is reviewed and a support plan specifically tailored to your individual health needs is prepared.

Part 2: First return appointment (up to 1 hour 15 mins)

​

This first return appointment involves discussing the support plan together - this return consult is essential to assist you in understanding and implementing the suggested changes and getting started on supporting your health and wellbeing in a practical way.

​

To put it simply, this appointment is a follow on from the first appointment and is for allowing you to understand what might be happening with/in your body, and how this might be impacting your health. It can also give you some practical ideas and skills through a tailored support plan to assist you in making the necessary changes in your everyday choices and everyday living. It is important to return for this second appointment typically within 1-3 weeks of the first appointment, depending on your health conditions and the working approach. Please ensure you contact us to book this session if you have not already booked it in after your first session.

In this Part 2 return consult, we will go over the health assessment and any relevant test results with you and discuss the support plan and recommendations together in detail. This is your opportunity to work closely with us to effectively address any health concerns and take an active responsible role in your own health and wellbeing. This session typically goes for just over 1 hour.

​

Further work behind the scenes is often required in terms of health analysis, research, reviewing test results, writing referral letters to GPs, specialists or other practitioners, etc. and this may be billed separately or in some cases may be included in the paid appointment time - this will be determined together as part of the plan, depending on the depth you would like to go to (for example - please read further below about the blood test analysis and 'pathology manager').

At times, further tests may be required in order to gain a deeper understanding of your nutritional status, health and vitality. This can include amongst other tests: blood test, urine tests, stool analysis or salivary hormone testing. We will discuss this together with you and will either refer you to your GP, or alternatively, we can support with organising the testing through a local laboratory (applicable for clients within Australia only). Note that some tests through your GP may be bulk billed whilst other tests through them or through other laboratories are 'out of pocket' expenses that you as the client would be required to cover. L'Alchimiste does not make a profit from referring you to your GP for tests, nor do we make a profit from organising tests from other providers, however, this is offered as a service to support you.

For comprehensive naturopathic management of basic pathology results such as blood tests, a Full Comprehensive Naturopathic Consult is recommended. 

​

Please note:

• Additional recommended testing and prescribed supplements are not included as part of any appointment cost.

• There is an option of including the set up of a "Pathology Manager" for existing blood test results in order to be able to track these over a period of time and provide more in depth understanding of certain blood parameters. The "Pathology Manager" is a specifically designed spreadsheet with inbuilt calculations, where blood test results can be entered and compared over time This is billed separately with a fee for updates with new blood test results as required. The Pathology Manager is recommended particularly for cases where there are on-going/chronic health concerns and where blood test results play an important role in understanding the progression of a condition or illness and the body's capacity to address such stressful impacts. Please enquire about this if you are interested.

(2)Acute Naturopathy Appointment (up to 60 mins)

 

We also offer an 'Acute Naturopathy appointment'. The term 'acute' refers to physical ailments that typically have a rapid on-set, accompanied by distinct symptoms, requiring more urgent and/or short term care and are less than 1-2 months in presentation. This naturopathic appointment type is not to be seen as a replacement for going to the GP or to the hospital, but rather can be used in conjunction to support the healing process. For example a chest infection that requires antibiotics, may also be supported with a herbal tonic and immune boosting supplements. Or a urinary tract infection or candida infection etc - all benefit from the use of prescribed medicines as well as vitamins, minerals and herbs to support a full and healthy recovery. 

 

​Given the different focus and the shorter time frame of this appointment, it does not have the depth and detail involved compared to the full comprehensive naturopathy session described above and does not include blood test analyses. 

​

In this 'acute' naturopathy consult, we typically discuss one key acute health area of concern and discuss recommendations which may sometimes be somewhat limited depending on the overall health picture, the overall severity of the presenting condition, and other factors such as the medical information available or provided. This approach involves working with other health practitioners such as a GP who is commonly the main support ensuring the health and well-being of the client - this means that the acute naturopathy approach is complementary to the medical approach.

The 'acute' naturopathy consult does not replace the 'Full Comprehensive Naturopathy Session' as it is focused purely on the 'acute' nature of the current health issue on hand. Should further issues require exploring and or more depth is called for to support overall health, then the Full Comprehensive Naturopathy Session is considered as the next step. 

 

The full comprehensive naturopathy sessions mentioned above are of course also complementary to medical approaches, however, have a focus on more in depth, complex or chronic conditions of longer standing nature.

NOTE: the focus of the return Naturopathy Appointments is to review symptoms and treatment approaches from the preceding appointments and health issues that were presented at that time and do not apply to a new presentation of symptoms or a new ailment such as an unrelated symptom presenting 3-6 months or much later, which would require a different approach and work up (as done in a full comprehensive appointment or Acute appointment).
